I was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1976. From that date until 1 April 1985 I was employed in both local medium-sized accountancy firms and a multinational accountancy practice.

On 1 April 1985 I formed I B Murray & Co, with the intention of providing the quality of service that is to be expected of Chartered Accountants.

Biddulph was chosen for a location as office facilities were readily available and it was centrally placed for the conurbations of:

• Congleton
• Crewe
• Leek
• Newcastle
• Stoke on Trent

In 1999 I changed the name to Murray Chartered Accountants to reflect the increased input to the practice by my members of staff. I still maintain that we provide our services-
